Golden Oldie Thursday #24: Free Choice

I decided to do a Skittlette for last week's GOT Polish challenge with one of my most prized polishes.

Ninja Polish Alexandrite was a polish I didn't get back when I bought Color Changing Garnet and Zultanite - which I came to regret dearly. When it became clear that the pigments used got discontinued and it wouldn't be available again I started coveting it badly :D. I was so fortunate that a nail polish friend RAOKed it to me last January - but I have only ever worn it once. So here was the perfect opportunity to wear it again.

I stamped my middle and ring finger with Moyou London Pro plate 02 using BarryM Silver Foil

I actually broke one of the rules doing this skittlette but it was almost midnight when I did this mani so it wasn't until I was taking pictures that I realised that the glittertopper on my little finger didn't fit in - I'm wearing Clair de Lune by Indigo Bananas, a polish I only very recently added to my stash.

I think this turned out excellent - and I was actually able to center the stamping on my middle finger :D.

Full Moon over Friday the 13th

As the more perceptive of you might have realised by now this is...*stops channelling Rowan Atkinson*...Friday the 13th. A date traditionally connected with superstition - but also dread due to the famous slasher movie with the same title ;).

Some of my lacquerfriends and I decided to do a group post today - because besides it being friday the 13th there is also a full moon tonight. Which won't happen again in...a long time. Next time June the 13th is on a friday WITH a full moon is in 2098!!! So what to do?

I got thinking and the very first polish that popped in to my head was Ninja Polish Howling Blue Moon, a Glow-in-the-Dark, glittery blue awesome polish with loads of half moon glitters in it. And immediately after that thought I went: Ooooh I have Pretty Serious Crystal Lake!!! So there was the base for my mani.

And since I thought they needed something more - I got my stamping gear ready and here is what I came up with:

Howling Blue Moon on thumb and middle finger. Crystal Lake on ring and pinkie. A-England Camelot on index.

I used three of my Dashica XL SDP plates for the stamped images: 53, 92 and 93 and used a-england Camelot for the black base on my index finger.

If you would like to join us here is the inlinkz code. We would love to see what you come up with. If you don't have a blog, feel free to share it on my Facebook Page.

Happy belated St. Patricksday!!

I haven't celebrated St. Paddys since I studied in England over 10 years ago. It was fun and since I love Irish beer it was a blast. So to remind myself of all the fun I had I decided to get in on this year's celebration - and here is what I did.

I started out with this basic mani and had it all planned out. At least I thought so. But when it came to stamping the pot'o'gold on my ring finger I suddenly remembered I had thought of painting one of my nails gold.

A lot of facepalms later I got myself together and started stamping. And then I got to the Claddagh and realised I still hadn't gotten it all together. So I topped the middle finger with Ninja Polish Shillelagh and was good to go.

Last year I bought some plates from Messy Mansion one of which was this St. Patricksday plate. It is very versatile and though I will only get to use it once a year I'm still happy I bought it :)

I used Camelot for the pot'o'gold and should probably have used my Black stamping polish though that one isn't always a guarantee for a clear transfer either.

And these were the polishes used for this mani:

Fancy Friday #30: Galaxy Nails

Oooooh, I've been looking forward to this I haven't done one since last year when I - somewhat irregularly - did the 52 week nail art challenge.

I know my nail art skills have vastly improved since then but really these are very easy to do and as you can see in this picture it is very hard to fail at this, these are from August 2012:

There are tons of tutorials out there but still I totally forgot to do a step-by-step of this one even though I'd thought about it. Silly me, right?

Once again I've chosen Cult Nails Time Traveller as my base - beware it is HIGHLY pigmented which means it's a one coater but also that it is a TOTAL mess to remove. Strangely enough it didn't stain my nails but boy did I have Smurf fingers while removing it!!

Direct lighting

I picked small pieces off a make up sponge and used a pair of tweezers to apply the polish. I started off with a yellow and did random patterns on each nail - and then I simply had four other polishes that I played around with
A dark purple creme: RBL MisMas
A green shimmer: Ninja Polish Shillelagh
A peacock green-leaning blue: P2 lost in paradise
Glitter: Nfu Oh GS3

Indirect light

When I'd sponged the purple, green and peacock, I took a dotting tool and dotted with the smallest I had - these were done where I thought it would look good :)

With flash

Then I made the stars with white nail polish, the small ones with my shortest striper brush and the bigger with a big dot as base and then drew the spikes with that striper again.

Lastly I took the Nfu Oh glitter and applied one coat. This glitter is AWESOME for galaxy manis since it is holographic and has a lot of different sizes of hex glitters in it.

I had no idea there was some lint on my thumb until I saw it here :D

I hope you liked this one - and you will probably see another galaxy mani on saturday when me and a whole bunch of other bloggers are going to celebrate The Day of the Doctor *dances around excitedly*

Make sure you check out the other girls' galaxy manis, they all do gorgeous nail art.

Stamping Saturday

I recently started on a new polish adventure - I have started stamping. I was fascinated by it when I first got back into nail polish in 2009 but it wasn't until I purchased some Essence and Dashica plates last year that I gave it a try - and what horrible tries they were, two of them are featured in my 52 Week Challenge, you can see them here and here. And today I totally blame the stamper that came with the Essence plate. Which was absolutely useless. See, I also bought an XL stamper when I did my plate shopping at Dashica - and for some unexplainable reason I didn't use it.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to give stamping another chance after I'd been told how big a difference the XL stamper makes. And I have to say it really does make a difference, the images transfers more clearly and it is just easier to handle than a regular stamper.

Well onto my first stamping experience since those fatal stamps last year.

I wanted my two Enigma colours to last a little longer so they got stamped with some beautiful Dashica designs.

Here is delightful Ambrosia:

This design is large so I've only got a very small part of it stamped on my nail. And that is the great thing about Dashica's XL plates, they have a mix of big and small designs, so whether your nails are small or large you'll get something to match their size. This plate is Dashica XL Spd 35.

I used Essence Stamp Me Silver!! for this stamp

And on to the awesome Divinity:

This design is from the Dashica XL SdP plate 32

I stamped with BarryM Watermelon Gelly - the Gellies are great for stamping!

I've got tiny nails, so as you can see some designs just doesn't fit - but I do them anyway when they are as pretty as this.

I am so gonna continue stamping, it is really great for us nail art challenged polish fans :D

Ninja Polish Enigma Collection: Ambrosia

So last week I showed you Divinity, one of the Enigma collection polishes from Ninja Polish. For some strange reason I also bought the other polish that was released together with Divinity, Ambrosia. Why is it a strange reason, you ask? Well if you've followed me for some time you know I'm not a fan of red polishes - and this one is most definitely red.

Orange leaning red, but red none the less. Seeing a few swatches of this somehow made me want it, and want it real bad I did.

The shimmer in it is gorgeous and gives it that fiery look I simply cannot resist these days.

Application was a breeze. The polish was wonderful to work with, no consistency issues, gave full coverage in two layers and dried very fast.

Love, love, love this - and remember: I am NOT a red girl!!!

If you haven't bought any of the Enigma polishes I urge you to go to the Ninjas and try one of them out, they are totally gorgeous - right now Ambrosia is the only one in stock.

Ninja Polish Enigma Collection: Divinity

Here is something extremely beautiful to feast your eyes on:

I have been lucky enough to get my hands on two of the polishes in this collection and they are just...WOW. And they are one of the reasons for me not being here. It has taken absolutely an infinity to choose between the 80!!! pictures I've taken of the two polishes - and then to crop and finish them for publication here...Gah!!! But finally they are ready for your viewing pleasure.

First up is Divinity, a tribute to the much elusive Unicorn Pee polish aka Clarins 230. But unlike 230 which is known to need A LOT of layers to achieve full coverage you'll get it with only two layers of Divinity. Lo and behold the gorgeousness:

The polish was VERY easy to work with, but did dry semi matte so I topped it with a layer of nails inc. kensington caviar top coat.

I don't own Clarins 230 so a comparison is out of the question (still kicking myself for not buying it three years ago when I found it on evilbay for 30 $).

The colour shift in this is amazing and these pictures aren't showing you half of the epicness of this polish. That's how hard it is to photograph.

I decided to make a couple of close-ups, and apologies for the slight unfocused pictures, but even photographing and editing fails will be shared here ;)

What do you think of Divinity?

You can buy the Enigma Collection at Ninja Polish - and you should - but at the moment Divinity is sold out.
