Fancy Friday #90: Blobbicure

Another old Fancy Friday post from the draft vault -  but it was just a blank page. So I took a look at my old pictures and found the ones I was going to use for this prompt :D.

I was never really good at blobbicures, but this one I think I did okay with.

And I still have a lot of vault posts to share with you guys :), so keep checking in to see more.

Fancy Friday #93: Multi Colour Stamping

I am finally back after life threw me a curve ball. Blogging about nail polish and nail polish challenges has had to take third place for a while, but I have been polishing my nails so there are plenty of manis to share with you in the near future :D. And my return is also a small celebration worthy since this is actually my post no. 300!!

Multi Colour Stamping is the challenge for this week's Fancy Friday - and a stamping technique I've become quite thrilled with.

Unfortunately this particular mani is one of those that worked so much better in my mind's eye - I think I should have used a dark base colour instead.

Base colour is Elevation Polish Yeti Hugs Feels So Close:

I used Messy Mansion plate 32 which is an egyptian themed plate and has a design I have wanted to use since I purchased it. I used my Rica stamping polishes and started with randomly placing blobs of each colour on the image.

I did my middle nail first, but made the mistake of trying to blend the colours together while I was scraping. That certainly didn't have the desired effect and instead of a wonderful rainbow they turned into this murky sort of berry colour that wasn't even exciting.

So for the rest I tried to simply wipe my scraper over the image in one go. That had an equally problemtic effect - a lot of the design became almost invisible when stamped on white, as you can see it is really hard to see the intricate design.

Hopefully I will have time soon to recreate this with a darker base colour :).

Remember to check the rest of the Fancy Friday bloggers, there are some fantastic multi colour stamping manicures going on!!!

Fancy Friday #86: NYE Nail Art

So life have gotten in the way for my blogging - and I have been neglecting posts of my Fancy Friday manis. So to start them off here are my FF NYE nails:

Yeah, shockingly I was nekkid for the celebration 'cause I had too much to do and very little time to anything nail related. Instead I did these a few days later - they were what I had planned for but never got to do...

I used OPI Push and Shove, Elevation Polish Silver Sword, Rapa Nui and Jbel Ajachi. Not the perfect NYE mani, but I really like it.

Anyway - it matched our decorations in blue, silver and purple :D.

Fancy Friday #81: Lead Light Nails

I have been looking forward to this technique because it means that I get to use my awesome Rica Squish polishes again. Back when we did reverse stamping I used them for that and thought they would be excellent for lead lighting. Which they are :D

Rica Polish Lemon Squish

I followed Julia from Messy Mension's tutorial on Youtube which made this awfully simple.

Rica Polish Strawberry Squish

Basically you are colouring in your stamp with a dotting tool or a small nail art brush, using jelly or tint polishes like OPI Sheer Tints or the Squish polishes from Rica.

Rica Polish Tangerine Squish

My stamping wasn't really good so I made good with what I had ;)

Here is Julia's guide which will give you an excellent run-through of the technique:

I sure will be doing this again, got a whole lot of comments on my nails.

Remember to drop by the other girls, they have some wonderful leadlight nails to share with you.

Fancy Friday: Fan Brush/Sugar Spun

This challenge had me in frustrated ramblings within five minutes, haha. See I have done a fair amount of fan brush nail art so naturally I decided on sugar spun as my challenge. And boy did I regret that several times while I made these.

So welcome to nail fail city.

I used Elevation Polish Atop the Ferris Wheel as base colour and thought that since this was inspired by the fairground I'd choose colours that would fit as cotton candy, which really is spun sugar. So I decided to use Dior Porcelaine, Elevation Polish Mount Ventoux, Illamasqua Nomad and nails inc. oxford circus.

And colour wise I think this works great but Damn this was a hot mess. I definitely didn't have patience enough when I did it because I couldn't wait until the polish was dry enough.

Which resulted in all those huge ugly blobs you can see.

And the fact that I chose to do my very first sugar spun with four colours probably didn't help me much either.

I was at my wits end and decided never to do this again. BUT I have come to the conclusion that I need to try this at least one more time to see if I can't get it to work for me. Mostly because I've seen them done looking totally awesome.

Remember to check out what the rest of the wonderful Fancy Friday girls have come up with.

Fancy Friday #72: Reverse Stamping

Oooooohh I'm excited about this challenge. Up until now I've actually done this without realising I did reverse stamping, since I have made quite a lot of stamping decals.

This time around I wanted to try the technique where you do the colouring on the stamper and then do a direct transfer to the nail.

I did not succeed in any way :D. I didn't have time to do it all over again so what you get is my work-in-progress.

I actually started with my middle finger...and progressed to the ring finger. Certainly not an improvement!! I think I was too impatient, the polish seemed too wet which can explain the squashed pattern.

And the image turned out to be too small for my thumb :(

So when all else fails? FAIRY DUST ALL THE THINGS!!!

Fancy Friday #71: Inspired by Autumn

Here we are more than halfway through September and we are almost having an indian summer here in Denmark. Warm, sunny days where wearing more than a t-shirt and shorts will have you brake out in sweat :D.

Which makes this week's Fancy Friday challenge quite funny as it really is nothing like Autumn yet ;). Except from the leaves. Everywhere they have started to curl and change colour so I took my inspiration from that mix of orange, brown and green in varying stages.

The green base colour is Essie Sew Psyched, I love the colour and the formula is great with this one - it's almost a one coater.

This is Halloween, an awesome glitter topper from Dollish Polish

And the ever lovely Crunchy Leaves from Girly Bits. It is exquisite and I love that orangey-dark brown-copperish colour I get with it when I use it without undies. I must say I rarely use polishes if I have to use 3+ layers to get it opaque - but for this (and a couple of others in my collection) I am willing to do almost anything, that's how gorgeous I think it is!!!!

A little stamping on the thumb to give the mani that extra autumnal feel. I used Messy Mansion plate no. 16 and a copper shimmer stamping polish from Dashica.

Oh, and a macro shot of the stamping pattern.

And remember to check out the rest of the Fancy Friday bloggers to see their Autumn inspiration :).

Fancy Friday #70: Frilly Edges

For this week's Fancy Friday I chose Elevation SBP La Harpe - a polish that some wonderful nail polish fairies gifted to me. It is gorgeous and I don't want to remove it!!!

Then I stamped some french lace edges on them - which was pretty difficult - I dare say this is a fail. But you know me I'm not shy with my failures, you get the whole package with me :D.

I really love my new MessyMansion plates - and I am really a huge fan of plate 44. Those lace patterns are so beautiful and extremely versatile!!

Fancy Friday #67: Inspired by a Swim Suit

This prompt was really hard at first. I really wanted to use a specific green RBL polish: Become One. So I did a Google search on Green Swim Suit - and trawled through masses of green bathing suits but nothing that inspired me. So I decided to do a more detailed search and put in "One Piece" in my search. And lo and behold a couple of pictures down, this one popped up and I went: Oooooooohh.

This is what I came up with:

Nothing really fancy but I really like how it looks - though I realised I should have been more random with the way the flowers turns :D

I adore this green polish and am so happy I own it - and I really need to wear it more often...now that Autumn is approaching it should get on my nails again soon!!

And this concludes my Fancy Friday mani back log so now I can get back to my regular, though sometimes sporadic, posting ;).
