Fancy Friday #93: Multi Colour Stamping

I am finally back after life threw me a curve ball. Blogging about nail polish and nail polish challenges has had to take third place for a while, but I have been polishing my nails so there are plenty of manis to share with you in the near future :D. And my return is also a small celebration worthy since this is actually my post no. 300!!

Multi Colour Stamping is the challenge for this week's Fancy Friday - and a stamping technique I've become quite thrilled with.

Unfortunately this particular mani is one of those that worked so much better in my mind's eye - I think I should have used a dark base colour instead.

Base colour is Elevation Polish Yeti Hugs Feels So Close:

I used Messy Mansion plate 32 which is an egyptian themed plate and has a design I have wanted to use since I purchased it. I used my Rica stamping polishes and started with randomly placing blobs of each colour on the image.

I did my middle nail first, but made the mistake of trying to blend the colours together while I was scraping. That certainly didn't have the desired effect and instead of a wonderful rainbow they turned into this murky sort of berry colour that wasn't even exciting.

So for the rest I tried to simply wipe my scraper over the image in one go. That had an equally problemtic effect - a lot of the design became almost invisible when stamped on white, as you can see it is really hard to see the intricate design.

Hopefully I will have time soon to recreate this with a darker base colour :).

Remember to check the rest of the Fancy Friday bloggers, there are some fantastic multi colour stamping manicures going on!!!

Fancy Friday #79 : Favourite Nail Polish or Design

This week's challenge is a bit of both. As you well know I am a devout Elevation Polish believer. And though Lulu creates oodles of gorgeous polishes there is one that has always been my favourite. It is the one I choose when I need a pick-me-up or feel all my lovely pastels are a bit boring. Not so with this beauty.

I give you: Elevation Polish Toubkal, my all-time favourite nail polish!

It hits all the right buttons with me. It is a totally vampy colour (my first nail polish colour crush was on all things vampy) and it has glass flecks in abundance - a finish I've been crazy about since back when I bought Illamasqua Raindrops at it's initial release.

For good measure I've thrown in a favourite design and a go-to mani:

Stamping and Skittlette.

Usually I use as many different polishes for the skittlette as possible but with this one I really just wanted to show you that one. So in order to make it a skittlette I found some rhinestones in my  nail art travel case and put them on my thumb and ring finger. They only sat for a couple of hours since I only attached them with top coat :D

I love stamping and try to incorporate it in as many designs as possible. For this challenge I chose my Messy Mansion plate MM44 - with an absolutely gorgeous lace design. I received my new stamper heads from Messy Mansion - I finally got hold of the soft ones, and let me tell you, they stamp marvellously!!! I don't think I've ever had a this clean and crisp design!

I think it is gorgeous!!

Don't forget to take a look at the other favourite designs og nail polishes from my fellow Fancy Friday challengers.

52 Week Pick 'n' Mix: Two Colour Teal Gradient.

Welcome all to the new Nail Art Challenge here on the blog. As a member of Crumpet's Nail Tarts on Facebook I've signed up for this awesome new challenge that will replace Golden Oldie Thursday. It incorporates both of the previous challenges the Nail Tarts have done: TriPolish Tuesday and Golden Oldie Thursday.

There will be two prompts each week which you can choose to combine in one post or you can do both in two separate posts - or just choose one. There will always be a colour prompt, which you can choose if you want to use a golden oldie polish. Furthermore we will be able to post any day in the week that suits us.

This week the two prompts are:
  • Two Colour Gradient
  • Teal

I have chosen to combine the two and make a two colour teal gradient using Cult Nails polishes - both of which have been in my collection for a considerable amount of time.

The baby blue shimmer polish is Manipulative:

And the teal glass fleck polish is Let Me Fly:

I decided to try a new-to-me type of gradient which is called scaled gradient. Since my nail beds are small it was really difficult for me to get a proper scaling going but somehow it is actually visible on most nails.

I've run out of NailVinyls so I had to use tape and hot damn I'd forgotten how much a biotch it can be to center the bloody pieces!!! Oh btw Glisten and Glow top coat shrinks Cult Nails polishes.

And I couldn't leave it well enough alone :D - I had to stamp it as well. I used Kiko Mirror Metallics 625 Grass Green, though funnily enough it leans blue here - go figure...

I used Messy Mansion plate MM44 which is the most gorgeous lace plate!

I really look forward to sharing my manis with you guys - and remember to take a look at this wonderful assortment of teal manis and gradients.

Fancy Friday #71: Inspired by Autumn

Here we are more than halfway through September and we are almost having an indian summer here in Denmark. Warm, sunny days where wearing more than a t-shirt and shorts will have you brake out in sweat :D.

Which makes this week's Fancy Friday challenge quite funny as it really is nothing like Autumn yet ;). Except from the leaves. Everywhere they have started to curl and change colour so I took my inspiration from that mix of orange, brown and green in varying stages.

The green base colour is Essie Sew Psyched, I love the colour and the formula is great with this one - it's almost a one coater.

This is Halloween, an awesome glitter topper from Dollish Polish

And the ever lovely Crunchy Leaves from Girly Bits. It is exquisite and I love that orangey-dark brown-copperish colour I get with it when I use it without undies. I must say I rarely use polishes if I have to use 3+ layers to get it opaque - but for this (and a couple of others in my collection) I am willing to do almost anything, that's how gorgeous I think it is!!!!

A little stamping on the thumb to give the mani that extra autumnal feel. I used Messy Mansion plate no. 16 and a copper shimmer stamping polish from Dashica.

Oh, and a macro shot of the stamping pattern.

And remember to check out the rest of the Fancy Friday bloggers to see their Autumn inspiration :).

Golden Oldie Thursday #37: Burnt Orange/Copper

I have a polish the same colour as copper pennies that hasn't seen light of day since the week it was bought - and the sad little bugger only got a one finger swatch back then!!

GOT to the rescue!!

Illamasqua Shrapnel was one of three polishes created by fans of Illamasqua and I bought it in my very first order together with the other two fan collaboration shades: Raindrops and Eclipse - incidentally polishes that has suffered almost the same sad fate as Shrapnel.

I usually don't like that colour on me but I am not hating this either, which is good :D.

I had some bubble issues which I can only connect to my base coat so I won't use Sally Hansen's Nail Quencher together with Shrapnel ;). Top coating it didn't help the bubbling so I decided to stamp it - my go-to rescue.

I used Messy Mansion plate no. 20 for this image...

...and stamped with BarryM Gold Foil:

As you can see my rescue attempt didn't help much  - bubbles are totally visible :D

I really like this even though I shy away from colours like this - maybe I should try some more.

Remember to check in with the rest of the GOT polish girls and see which polish they have chosen for this week's challenge.

Fancy Friday #70: Frilly Edges

For this week's Fancy Friday I chose Elevation SBP La Harpe - a polish that some wonderful nail polish fairies gifted to me. It is gorgeous and I don't want to remove it!!!

Then I stamped some french lace edges on them - which was pretty difficult - I dare say this is a fail. But you know me I'm not shy with my failures, you get the whole package with me :D.

I really love my new MessyMansion plates - and I am really a huge fan of plate 44. Those lace patterns are so beautiful and extremely versatile!!

Golden Oldie Thursday #36: Ignored for too long

Ignored for too long? Most of my polish get to be ignored for too long :D. So I just opened the top drawer in Helmer 1 and found two gorgeous YSL polishes: Wintergreen and Moonlight Blue.

In the bottle they look extremely promising, on the nails it is a totally different story. That shimmer is almost gone :O.

They are a dream to work with!! High pigmentation means they are both one coaters though I used two layers as usual.

I decided to give them a good stamp!! With MessyMansion plate 16 and BarryM Silver Foil.

Look at that bottle shimmer!!! Wah for it not translating to the nails!!!

Do you have any ignored polishes? If you do, which?

Have a look at what the other girls have ignored for too long:

Golden Oldie Thursday #34: Purple

...And another week went by :D and here is last week's GOT challenge mani - the prompt was purple.

I wanted to do a bubble mani - or whatever they are called, but I failed miserably so I just took the easy way out and stamped on top of it :D.

I ordered some Messy Mansion plates this summer and one was a lace plate - absolutely gorgeous and I decided it would save my failed mani. And it did ;)

I used China Glaze Spontaneous, China Glaze Grape Juice, Zoya Danii and Zoya Hope. And I stamped with Kiko 621.

I absolutely adore this mani - you can see the bubbles peeping out from the lace pattern and it works!!
