Golden Oldie Thursday #34: Purple

...And another week went by :D and here is last week's GOT challenge mani - the prompt was purple.

I wanted to do a bubble mani - or whatever they are called, but I failed miserably so I just took the easy way out and stamped on top of it :D.

I ordered some Messy Mansion plates this summer and one was a lace plate - absolutely gorgeous and I decided it would save my failed mani. And it did ;)

I used China Glaze Spontaneous, China Glaze Grape Juice, Zoya Danii and Zoya Hope. And I stamped with Kiko 621.

I absolutely adore this mani - you can see the bubbles peeping out from the lace pattern and it works!!

Fancy Friday #65: Girly

I got up-to-date with my GOT manis so now it is time for my Fancy Friday manis. The first of those that got left behind during my summer vacation was the Girly challenge.

This was as girly as I could get it - a three-colour gradient with stamping and TWO pinks :O.

I used China Glaze Purple Panic as stamping colour and as yo can see it worked fairly okay. I used my MoyouLondon Sailor 04 plate.

The second pink is from Peita's Polish called Pink Blitz. It is from the One Year anniversary What's In-Die Box. Lovely pink holographic, I really like it.

Elevation Polish Matsuda...I have no words for this, it is really stunning - and that is coming from the girl that really doesn't like red. Or pinks. Totally out of my comfort zone here!!

The gray one is Bound to Fall from Dandy Nails. Beautiful polish with blue micro flakes in it. So gorgeous and I need to wear this on it's own soon!

I have to confess I was really out of my comfort zone here but I am actually quite happy with the result. And I might even wear pink and red more often :O.

Golden Oldie Thursday #26: Turqoise

Another favourite colour of mine for this week's GOT polish challenge.

Found YSL Turqoise Utopique in my drawer that I wanted to use as base, it was actually the first I thought of when I saw the challenge theme.

For some reason these pictures lost a lot in colour when they got uploaded to my Google account. WHERE DID ALL THE GREEN GO?????. It really is turqouise and not this dusty blue meh kinda polish...

As you can see I did a waterfall mani - I love them big time :D - and I got to use my new nail art brushes that I bought from StylishNailArtShop which I will have to get used to, because they weren't super easy to work with

These were the polishes I used:

YSL Utopian Turquoise, ChG Keep Calm, Paint on, ChG Kinetic Candy Zoya Wednesday ChG Grape Juice

Remember to check other turqouise manis - they are awsome

Fancy Friday #55: Fruits'n'vegetables

So I realised last week that I had a couple of The Nail Junkie neon shimmer jellies left that I hadn't tried yet so I decided I'd do some watermelon nail art for today's challenge.

Base colour is the same as in my GOT texture mani: Catrice Twist of Lemon from the Coolibri Collection.

When I did this I realised I am actually so skilled now that I can free hand french tips :O But not a more skilled nail artist than I can get a mighty good dent in my newly painted manicure :D

I wanted this to be graphic in it's impression and then let the thumb with the nail stickers be the detailed piece in this mani. I like the simplicity of it.

And a macro of the thumb with the fruit circle. I still haven't figured out what fruit the upper one is. Anybody got a good guess?

Well I actually got a bit hungry writing this and looking over my painted nails :D

Golden Oldie Thursday #8: Orange

Nothing much to say, the title sort of gives it all up :D.

Couldn't figure out what kind of nail art I wanted to do, so I basically just sponged some glitter on top.

But I did use my favourite, favourite orange polish: Riveting. Glass Flecks. What's not to love? And the glitter topper is Electrify. Both from the China Glaze Colours of the Capitol collection (Hunger Games) from 2012.

This leans a bit on the blue side, but the glass fleck shimmer is so obvious here - and ta-daaa this is definitely Going in Circles fiery big sister ;)

I love this orange polish, if I should ever only choose one orange to own, this baby would be IT!!!

Fancy Friday #42: Love is in the Air

And my second Valentine's day mani is part of the Fancy Friday challenge - if you need to recap why this is a darker version of a Valentine Mani you can go read my little rant here.

As I wrote in my last Fancy Friday challenge I wanted to try the fan brush gradient with regular polishes so I did that as a base. I started with a layer of China Glaze Pelican Gray and when it'd dried I used the tutorial at Neverland Nail Blog I talked about last week using Pelican Gray, YSL Gris Orage, and Dior Gris Montaigne. The look can best be seen on my ring finger on the picture below:

It became the perfect base for the rest of this mani I think, I'm just bummed I totally forgot to take pictures of it. I love that the effect is so subtle that you hardly realise it is a gradient.

I used MoyouLondon Princess Plate 10 for the girly skull and heart doodle stamp and VividLacquer plate VL007 for the kissy lips - and like my other VDay mani I also used Leighton Denny Indulgence as stamping polish here.

And La Pièce de Résistance: Elevation Polish Yeti's Broken Heart - an awesome glitter topper with a wide variety of white matte glitters and heart shaped glitter in white, black and purple. Add a little bit of holographic micro glitter pieces and you got a killer polish. I think it is a brilliant polish with a slight nudge to all the Valentine frenzy...

Lastly here are all the polishes together that I used for this manicure:

China Glaze Pelican Gray, YSL Gris Orage, Dior Gris Montaigne, Elevation Yeti's Broken Heart, Leighton Denny Indulgence

Fancy Friday 34: Merry Christmas

So I am finally getting into the Christmas spirit and have been looking forward to this challenge. I've had the design on my mind since last year when I first tried the abstract Christmas trees and failed so miserably that I didn't show them here. So I am happy to report that this time it went really well :D.

I did this mani as a skittlette and here is the final look:

To create the trees I started out with painting my nails with Chanel 479 Kaleidoscope. Then I taped a triangle on my middle and ring finger and painted it with a-england Perceval(which is also the colour I used for the index and little finger).

I tore off the tape right after I painted it and top coated it with nails inc. kensington caviar top coat. I let it dry completely before the next step. I then retaped the triangles - this step is a bit tricky and will take some concentration. I used striping tape and placed it so I would get the pattern you see. I finished by filling out the striped triangle with China Glaze Jolly Holly.

Again, I removed the striping tape immediately. It will save you some trouble if you keep track of how you placed the tape and then remove them in reverse direction. I finished the design by placing some rhinestones as stars, I used a blob of top coat to get them to stick properly. Then I top coated it to finish it off.

I used my Dashica XL SdP 93 plate for the christmas ornament, and used BarryM Gold Foil and Jolly Holly polishes.

On my thumb is the SERIOUSLY AHMAZING China Glaze Running in Circles. Boy am I glad I bought that one on a whim. It is perhaps the most beautiful glass fleck polish I own.

And it really is as smooth as it look, one of the reasons why I love glass fleck polishes so much - I can get my glitter fix but don't have to do anything but top coat it to get it to feel smooth to the touch.

And a picture of the design with flash:

I hope you liked it as much as I do :) - and if I don't get to say it later: A very Merry Christmas to all of you, my lovely readers <3

And remember to check out all the other marvellous Christmas manis from the other girls.

Fancy Friday #32: Green Digits

I was in such an uninspired mood when I thought these up, but I ended up liking them a lot. Only drawback was how unreasonably difficult it was to get a proper amount of the glitter out. I had to use a replacement RBL brush I have in order to get reasonable coverage here.

The green polish is China Glaze Jolly Holly from their 2010 Christmas Collection, a marvellous polish that I find myself returning to every year at Christmas time even though I've got loads of other holiday polishes. It's  a one coater if you are careful but I've used two coats here.

The red and white glitter topper is Love Always, Candy Cain from Pretty and Polished, Holiday Collection 2012

I've had a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year even though I've made Christmas ornaments with the girls and for a swap, I've made some Christmas sweets and made advent calendars. I've been to a work related Christmas party and am going to the traditional family Christmas lunch tomorrow as well. Hopefully I will get there soon since I usually love Christmas.

Remember to check out what kind of Green Digits the rest of the girls are sporting.

Fancy Friday #13: Pattern/Stamping

So we have come to the end of the first three months of Fancy Fridays. But do not despair, we have plenty of more coming up for the coming three months :)

For today's FF I've chosen stamping. Being on holiday as we speak I decided to pull out an older mani I did back in April. Actually it is a close cousin to this mani.

I love Dashica's plates, the patterns are intricate, the images are clear and crisp and Shirley's inspiration seem endless - and she makes plates that caters to different nail sizes, a big bonus.

The plate I've used for this is XL SdP 30 - upper middle image:

Since it is a full nail image and my nails are too small for it I thought it would be cool if I chose different areas of the stamp for each nail - and I think it turned out pretty well.

The base colour is China Glaze Purr-Fect Plum and I used Color Club Cloud Nine from the Halo Hues collection.

I had a middle finger nail that almost broke and I managed to repair it, but only to a certain degree which explains the very wonky looking nail :D

I love that holo polish stamps so well, you get this totally awesome look on your nails as soon as the sun turns up!!

See you again next week for the start of the next three months of Fancy Friday ;)

Fancy Friday #12: Summer Mani/Pedi

Summer has really decided to join us here in Denmark - sun is shining and temperature is rising. So it is very fitting that this week's FF mani is a summer mani.

I've been trying to do fan brush nail art a couple of times, but couldn't get the hang of it until one of my lacquer friends informed me that it would be a good idea to wet the brush a bit to get proper brush separation :D

So with this in mind and this video in front of me I got started.

I have been looking at my Nail Junkie Green Apple for some time now wanting to use it for nail art, it is a lovely neon green shimmer jelly that dries with a satiny finish. The colour is really hard to capture and I have been totally unable to represent the Greenness of this polish - in my bottle pictures it comes off too yellow. And I couldn't even colour correct it in my photo editing programme :O

I also wanted something sunny and something water like, so I chose Catrice Twist of Lemonand China Glaze Custom Kicks to get that feeling:

Awesome yellow golden shimmer

I used Apple as base layer and then I fan brushed Custom Kicks first. I was afraid Twist of Lemon would "drown" if I'd started with it so that ended up as the second polish. I only did one "layer" of each in order not to cover up Apple.

Oh and somehow those hearts just begged to be part of this ;) I made them with Cult Nails Annalicious

I've felt like going on holiday for the past week just because of these nails...

Luckily my summer holiday starts today ;)
