52 Week Pick 'n' Mix Week #7: Wild Animals

I've been slacking on my 52 week challenge, but this week I have actually done both prompt in two different manis. Prompt one is Wild Animals and the Golden Oldie prompt is Yellow.

So first up is Wild Animals.

I instantly knew I was going to try out the cute animals tutorial that Jacki from Adventures in Acetone did a long time ago, they are so darn cute. In particular the monkey. What I didn't do was follow it :D - I was watching The Flash together with hubby while trying to do the monkey design - and we watched it on the computer and my phone was down so I did them from memory.

As you can see I got the proportions warped a bit, the upper face is a little too wide so the lower face is almost the same width. Not that it isn't cute to look at, but it looks more like a teddy bear than a monkey :D

I used Illamasqua Nurture as base, YSL La Laque no 36 Rich Coffee and Zoya Pasha for the monkey.

I loved doing these even though they weren't quite successful - and I will definitely follow Jacki's animal tutorials again :).

Take a look at the wild animals and yellow manis the Nail Tarts have come up with this week.

Golden Oldie Thursday #34: Purple

...And another week went by :D and here is last week's GOT challenge mani - the prompt was purple.

I wanted to do a bubble mani - or whatever they are called, but I failed miserably so I just took the easy way out and stamped on top of it :D.

I ordered some Messy Mansion plates this summer and one was a lace plate - absolutely gorgeous and I decided it would save my failed mani. And it did ;)

I used China Glaze Spontaneous, China Glaze Grape Juice, Zoya Danii and Zoya Hope. And I stamped with Kiko 621.

I absolutely adore this mani - you can see the bubbles peeping out from the lace pattern and it works!!

Fancy Friday #69: Untried/Untested (Polish or technique)

Well, well, well - this mani ended up covering all aspects of today's Fancy Friday Challenge.

The polishes used here are untried and the technique is - for me - untested.

In one of the facebook nail polish groups I'm in somebody linked to Sveta_sanders on Instagram who does amazing 15 seconds nail art tutorials. When I saw her swirl all the nail polish with an orange stick I knew I had to try it for this challenge.

And I actually got pretty good results with it!

The polishes used are Zoya Marley and Zoya Valerie.

I had so much fun doing this that I'll have to try it sometime in the near future!

And the best thing? It was so easy to do. Just paint a couple of layers and then immediately swirl with a rosewood stick in the wet polish :D.

I hope you enjoyed this mani, I sure did enjoy making it.

Remember to check out the other Fancy Friday ladies out.

Golden Oldie Thursday #26: Turqoise

Another favourite colour of mine for this week's GOT polish challenge.

Found YSL Turqoise Utopique in my drawer that I wanted to use as base, it was actually the first I thought of when I saw the challenge theme.

For some reason these pictures lost a lot in colour when they got uploaded to my Google account. WHERE DID ALL THE GREEN GO?????. It really is turqouise and not this dusty blue meh kinda polish...

As you can see I did a waterfall mani - I love them big time :D - and I got to use my new nail art brushes that I bought from StylishNailArtShop which I will have to get used to, because they weren't super easy to work with

These were the polishes I used:

YSL Utopian Turquoise, ChG Keep Calm, Paint on, ChG Kinetic Candy Zoya Wednesday ChG Grape Juice

Remember to check other turqouise manis - they are awsome

Fancy Friday #60: Skittlette

Today's Fancy Friday challenge is Skittlette. The term was coined almost a year and a half ago by the wonderful Marta Warmuz over at ChitChatNails.

For this one I chose some of my most recently acquired polishes. I am part of an international nail polish swap group on facebook where we do swaps four times a year. Our partner is secret so we don't know who will be sending to us until we get our lovelies.

This time around the lovely Spencer got stuff for me, and she really did spoil me. Amongst other polishes she sent two Milani cremes that are so me: Vivid Violet and Power Periwinkle - and a wonderful Zoya glitter polish that I unfortunately don't know the name of since the sticker never arrived with the package.

And this is what I ended up creating:

Vivid Violet turned out shy with its violetness when photographed...

I did a sponge gradient on my index and middle finger with the two cremes - and tried for some swirl nail art on the ring finger with Elevation Polish Vinson which wasn't too advanced :D

And the sun was out so I had to get a pic of it in the lovely bright summer light ;)

The iridescent glitters almost looks like small pieces of Mother of Pearl!!

The gradient is a bit on the sheer side but despite that I think this looks quite good.

Make sure you check out the rest of the Fancy Friday girls manicures - they are extremely amazing!!!

Fancy Friday #23: Autumn

Autumn has shown its face here in Denmark and to coincide with the rainy weather outside is this week's Fancy Friday theme.

I love all the shades the leaves shift through at this time and that colour change is what inspired me for this challenge. I also realised I had a stamp that looks very much like Boston Ivy which leaves go through the most prominent change in colour:

I put on Zoya Yara as base layer and then I took a make-up sponge and cut out three very small pieces. I then sponged Zoya Dree, Sinful Colors Pandora and Sinful Color Nirvana randomly on each nail. Lastly I stamped with Dashica SdP- with a rusty golden stamping polish also from Dashica. That all turned out like this:

Pardon my rough cuticles, have been less than generous with my hand-and-nail-care-routine.

Zoya Yara
I had an "accident" with my pictures, these and two other sets of pictures that were on my comp got deleted in the latest distro upgrade. I luckily had these laying around on google+ in a very low resolution but in a recent update on google they decided the editing programme was going to be google-only so you need to use chrome to be able to edit and crop pics on the go. Which is why these pics are unedited - but hopefully you'll enjoy watching anyway ;)

Sinful Colors Nirvana

Sinful Colors Pandora
And remember to check out the other Girls' inspirational manis :).

Zoya Dree

Challenge Week 45: Tribal Mani

For this week's mani I got inspired by Robin Moses. She has an awe inspiring youtube channel where she shares all her wonderful nail art designs. It is a bit overwhelming to watch when you are starting out in nail art but after a while you realise that you can actually accomplish most of her designs as long as you do it to suit your own level.

This particular design is what inspired me:

As you can see mine are nowhere near as gorgeous as hers ;)

I used my three barryM gelly polishes for this mani as well as Zoya Arizona, a-england Lancelot and nails inc. culross st.

As usual my top coat dragged the design, not sure what to do about it, this time I let it dry for 15 minutes before applying top coat. If you have any advice on how to avoid this suggestions are highly appreciated!

Challenge Week 40: Animal Print Mani

This one has been decided by the twins - they think tigers are awesome so tiger print  it is :)

I looked at a lot of tutorials for this one and zebra and tiger stripes seem to be very close so I tried to capture the different colours of the tiger's fur to set it apart.

I sponged colours in spots on white base and did it random on each nail.

I used the following colours:
White: nails inc. floral st.
Yellow: nails inc. notting hill carnival
Orange: Zoya Arizona
Light brown: OPI Over the Taupe
Black: a-england Lancelot

They look better from a distance than what you see here but you get the concept :) Definitely fun to do so I think I'll do this again sometime - or I might even give leopard print a shot.
