From the Vault: Girly Bits Gloss48 Trio swatches

I've been crappily sick today and ideas for my Fancy Friday manicure for this week are seemingly lost in my sickness - so while I am feeling awful I thought I might as well write up a post on a manicure that has been hiding in the vault for the better part of nine months :D

I was so very fortunate to get a hold of a very limited trio of polishes that the wonderful Pam Heil from Girly Bits Cosmetics did for a Gloss48 promo last February, #endlesslove, #islandtime and #blingernails.

#endlesslove on my thumb, index and pinkie. #islandtime on my middle and ring.

I was on a train ride to a family get-together wearing this mani in May last year.  The sun was shining through the windows and I was blinded by my own nails :D

#endlesslove and #islandtime topped with #blingernails equals gorgeous nails!!

13 Days of January Nail Art Challenge #1: Follow a Tutorial

Happy New Year all!! And welcome to a new nail art challenge here on the blog. I've wanted to do some more nail art but I'm not ready for a full blown 31DC, so when a group of my blogger friends and I got together to think up a challenge, we opted for a modified version of The Crumpet's Nail Tarts 31 Day Challenge for January 2015 - naturally with Debbie's blessing ;).

I saw Jacki's Polar Bear nail art tutorial a couple of weeks ago and instantly knew I was going to use it for this challenge.

For my version of the polar bears I used:
Dior Porcelaine
Rica White Out
Rica Gloomy Sunday
Cult Nails Never More

The rest of my mani is the absolutely gorgeous Girly Bits Scandilous that Pam Heil created for the Scandinavian nail polish group on Facebook. The snow flakes are a total nail fail made with the equally gorgeous Girly Bits nail polish Bette Davis' Eyes. I chose not to top coat them since I liked the textured feeling I got this way, somehow it represents the more rough nature of Greenland and the North Pole.

I think the polar bears are really cute even though there are some minor details that I struggled a bit with - but overall I am quite ecstatic with this mani!!!

And here you can take a look at what's to come during January:

Remember to drop by and take a peak at all the rest of the tutorial manis - click a pic and you will be directed instantly to the blog of your choice :).

Have a lovely day,

Marie-Luise

52 Week Pick 'n' Mix Week #7: Yellow

This was going to be this huge yellow post, and then it turned out I accidentally deleted pictures that hadn't been saved :(.

So for this post it is going to be short and to the point.

Yellow prompt with a Golden Oldie: Girly Bits Banana Hammock.

Short right?

See you next week ;)

Take a look at the wild animals and yellow manis the Nail Tarts have come up with this week.

52 Week Pick 'n' Mix Challenge Week 5: Three Dark Colours

My time these days is quite limited which is why I at the moment only choose the colour prompt for the Nail Tart Challenge.

Again I have found some gorgeous golden oldies: Three Girly Bits Halloween polishes from 2012. Jelly base in all of these so they needed four layers each for this opacity.

Gorgeous, I think. And here are some bottle shots and general pic spam :D:

I really think all three are cool and wonderful, but I am in particular fascinated with Fathomless - totally beautiful!!!!

Fancy Friday #71: Inspired by Autumn

Here we are more than halfway through September and we are almost having an indian summer here in Denmark. Warm, sunny days where wearing more than a t-shirt and shorts will have you brake out in sweat :D.

Which makes this week's Fancy Friday challenge quite funny as it really is nothing like Autumn yet ;). Except from the leaves. Everywhere they have started to curl and change colour so I took my inspiration from that mix of orange, brown and green in varying stages.

The green base colour is Essie Sew Psyched, I love the colour and the formula is great with this one - it's almost a one coater.

This is Halloween, an awesome glitter topper from Dollish Polish

And the ever lovely Crunchy Leaves from Girly Bits. It is exquisite and I love that orangey-dark brown-copperish colour I get with it when I use it without undies. I must say I rarely use polishes if I have to use 3+ layers to get it opaque - but for this (and a couple of others in my collection) I am willing to do almost anything, that's how gorgeous I think it is!!!!

A little stamping on the thumb to give the mani that extra autumnal feel. I used Messy Mansion plate no. 16 and a copper shimmer stamping polish from Dashica.

Oh, and a macro shot of the stamping pattern.

And remember to check out the rest of the Fancy Friday bloggers to see their Autumn inspiration :).

From the Vault

Due to me and the family being on a camping holiday last week there wasn't much going on here - no Golden Oldie Thursday or Fancy Friday posts.

So to help me get this week started properly I went to my manicure vault and found this for your viewing pleasure :D :

Elevation Polish Jengish Chokosu

Girly Bits Mint to Be

Ring finger: Girly Bits enJOYmint

If you want to see more of this kind you can check out my red Converse nail art that I did for Fancy Friday back in April.

See you on thursday where the theme for Golden Oldie Thursday is yellow.

Remember Aja

Today March 21st I am featuring a gorgeous purple scattered holographic polish from Girly Bits called Remember Aja. I am also featuring it as my profile pic on Instagram in remembrance of the tragic passing a year ago of Aja, a young girl very close to Pam, the creator of Girly Bits.

Aja's life was cut short due to a tragic game amongst pre-teens and teenagers that involves self asphyxiation - and is called The Choking Game.

In order to help informing about the tragic consequences of the game she created this beautiful polish:

Parts of the profit from the sale of this polish goes to a fund Aja's parents has set up to help educate and inform youngsters and their parents about this dangerous game.

If you own a bottle of Remember Aja feel free to join in the rememberance by connecting with this inlinkz code:

Fancy Friday #46: Yellow, Red, Blue, Green

For this challenge I chose to dig into my collection of Girly Bits since I was certain I had all colours covered but had some I've never worn. So off I went and found Banana Hammock, Glow Worm, Arctic Sunrise and Dancing Phalanges.

I love how all of these colours oozes spring, and it matched the weather when I wore it last week. Unfortunately the weather gods decided we could have autumn like weather this week to pay for the very early spring feel.

Somehow my nails managed to grow quite a lot from when I applied Banana Hammock to the time next day when I dotted them. Crazy is what my nails are...

I plan on being on time with this week's challenges so here's hoping I get it done ;)

Golden Oldie Thursday #10: Purple

Yay, one of my favourite colours is part of this GOT polish post. I love purple nail polish and we've had some amazing weather here the past week. So I decided to do some holo nail art.

One of my favourite Boutique Brand polishes is a-england. Adina creates amazing polishes with flawless application and buttery formula. They are one coaters and dries amazingly fast - you see why I love them? Lady of the Lake was part of my very first purchase from a-england back in february 2011 and I haven't worn it since I tried it the first day I got it.

Another Boutique Brand I love is RBL and I have a lot of them. Some of them can be problematic to apply, but the two beauties I chose for this mani applied like butter - they are Purple Haze and Insouciant.

Then I thought I'd spice it all up a bit. I applied Girly Bits Twitterpated on Lady of the Lake. It is not meant to be a french tip  but I realise it looks like a failed attempt at that :D. Then I decided to stamp roses on Purple Haze using Hits no Olimpo Dionisio.

Here is an example of how different polishes react differently with the same top coat. It is THE FIRST time I've had shrinkage with my Dior gel top coat - apparently some RBL's don't like it. I'm wearing RBL Insouciant on my index and RBL Purple Haze on my pinkie and thumb. The shrinkage on Insouciant is out of this world, I have NEVER had this much shrinkage with any top coat within less than 24 hours. Though I must say I was at the bottom of my bottle of gel coat and it was somewhat thicker than normal. But still...I do know that RBL can be fickle with top and base coat, I can't use Dior ridge filler either, they will NEVER dry. Hmm, maybe it is a Dior/RBL conflict...

Like I said the shrinkage is out of this world:

The stamped roses didn't really pop, but I don't mind they looked lovely anyway ;)

Insouciant                  Purple Haze                 Dionisio     Lady of the Lake    Twitterpated

I hope you all enjoyed these purple beauties, I really loved getting them back on my fingers :)
