#52weeks52polishes - week 1

One of my favourite Danish nail bloggers resurfaced last week - Rijah/Maria from Polishing the Nails. She took a break from nail blogging two years ago but I have kept up with her on instagram where she has mostly posted a mix of beauty related pics and pictures from her private life.

She spoke about wearing polish again and what she would like to do with her blogging this time around. And she suggested a small challenge so she could keep up with doing her nails: Posting once a week, showing a polish she hadn't shown her readers before. Which I thought was a wonderful idea and I decided to hop on that challenge since I have so many untried polishes I need to wear.

So after a poll on  insta Maria decided to call the challenge #52uger52lakker which translates to 52weeks52polishes - and here we are. I am already a week or two late which is just so typically me but I am trucking along anyway.

For my first polish I decided to go deep down and trawl through my old indies. One of my favourite brands - and one I was sad to see leave the indie nail polish world - is still Dandy Nails. Considering she left three years ago her polishes are still awesome and she had perfected her formula.

I am proud to say that considering the amount of nail polish I own this is still a one-of-a-kind in my collection: Bathed in Light. A light gray with a huge amount of maroon shimmer and a dash of holographic glitter to give it some oomph when the sun comes out - so gorgeous!!!

The polish seemed to be rather sheer on the first layer, but was almost opaque in the second. But I loved the maroon shimmer so much I had to add an extra layer and ended with 3 for this mani.

The stamping polish is Moyra Metallic Gold and the stamping plate is Moyou London Arabesque

Will you join us in this challenge? If you post on instagram remember to use #52uger52lakker and #52weeks52polishes.

See you around - have a great weekend :).

Golden Oldie Thursday #35: Indie

Boy was this one tough...I could hardly decide which brand to choose.

But I've wanted to wear my Dandy Nails polishes the past couple weeks - and that is where I went again.

So I looked them over and matched these two beauties up with each other:

My C-curve is way too deep for the star shaped Nail Vinyls to work decently which made me curse A LOT when I used them. I might as well free hand the stars next time :D.

Make sure to check out which indie brands the other girls are showing off today ;)

Fancy Friday #65: Girly

I got up-to-date with my GOT manis so now it is time for my Fancy Friday manis. The first of those that got left behind during my summer vacation was the Girly challenge.

This was as girly as I could get it - a three-colour gradient with stamping and TWO pinks :O.

I used China Glaze Purple Panic as stamping colour and as yo can see it worked fairly okay. I used my MoyouLondon Sailor 04 plate.

The second pink is from Peita's Polish called Pink Blitz. It is from the One Year anniversary What's In-Die Box. Lovely pink holographic, I really like it.

Elevation Polish Matsuda...I have no words for this, it is really stunning - and that is coming from the girl that really doesn't like red. Or pinks. Totally out of my comfort zone here!!

The gray one is Bound to Fall from Dandy Nails. Beautiful polish with blue micro flakes in it. So gorgeous and I need to wear this on it's own soon!

I have to confess I was really out of my comfort zone here but I am actually quite happy with the result. And I might even wear pink and red more often :O.

Untried Sunday

It's been a while since I showed you my untrieds so this week I'm going to show you two in one :D

As you know Dandy Nails is one of my favourite indie brands - in my top three actually - and this polish really is the epitome of a marvellous glitter bomb.

What you may not know is that my favourite high end brand is Dior. I have yet to come across one that is not nail polish perfection - and this is no exception.

Behold Dior Gris Perle topped with Dandy Nails Like Disco Lemonade:

I love the tapered flat paddle brush in the new Dior bottles though the brush in this one is the broad normal one.  It is of really high quality and very easy to work with, and the polish itself is really opaque, I put on two thin layers for this mani.

Like Disco Lemonade is an awesome glitter bomb in a clear base and it has so much going on. Green and orange micro glitters, black squares, holographic hexes, all making this polish unique in my collection. I've got more complicated glitter bombs than this but the combination in it is outstanding.

As usual it was a polish that was easy to work with, I didn't have to use the dabble method to get good coverage from one layer - actually I don't have to dabble any of my Dandy Nails glitter bombs which is one of the reasons why this brand is in my indie top three.

And here are a couple of close-up's of the two beauties:

I think this combo is awesome and lends something great to both polishes. What do you think?

If you want to know what's on my ring finger you can tune in next sunday for another Untried Sunday manicure.

Dandy Nails Grave Robber

Wow how time flies at this time of year - as soon as I get close to December it seem to just sift through my fingers.

So here, without further ado is the second of Dandy Nails' Halloween Collection polishes: Grave Robber.

This is a beautiful layering glitter polish with silver and copper shreds and micro glitters and looks gorgeous over white.

It has the usual perfect formula that Sandy delivers with every single polish and it is easily applied.

Dry time was quick for a glitter like this and I didn't have to place them or dab, just two coats of regular applied polish :D.

Dandy Nails can be purchased here and I urge you to try her polishes out - they are fabulous!!

Dandy Nails Legal Assassin

I have an ongoing love affair with Dandy Nails. These polishes are absolute glitter perfection and I treasure the ones I own.

Legal Assassin is from Sandy's Halloween Collection which also consists of Grave Robber and Mighty Fine Print. For some strange reason I didn't buy MFP when I bought this and Grave Robber, but I purchased it two days ago and am so psyched to get it.

What keep me amazed is the wonderful formula of Dandy Nails. They are jam packed with glitter in various sizes but still has easy application and that is not an easy feat when it comes to glitters. Though they tend to be a bit on the thick side they don't need thinner and that is a big plus in my book.

Legal Assassin is clear based mostly blurple glitter interspersed with green micro glitter and red medium sized hex glitter, an out-of-this-world gorgeous combination AND is opaque in two coats!!!!

Two coats, no undies.

It looks more blue than purple in my shots and I even tried to colour correct it and this is as close as I got.

Wear time is excellent - I work as a film technician and abuse my nails opening film cans and this mani lasted for three days without a chip. Awesome, I tell you!

The pictures do not do this justice, it is Amazeballs to look at.

Legal Assassin, Grave Robber and Mighty Fine Print are still available at the Ninjas - and her Christmas Collection was released earlier this week so go fetch!!

You can follow Dandy Nails on Facebook to get news on new colours and collections, and do make sure to follow Ninja Polish as well - remember their Black Friday sale starts at 7 tomorrow morning Copenhagen Time ;) and they will be announcing random flash sales, coupon codes and promos for hours on both Facebook and Twitter.

Dandy Nails Wonderwall

I am so happy to be able to present this wonderful indie polish. Sandy Gallo, the creative genius behind Dandy Nails, started out as a blogger but after releasing her own polish line she hasn't been doing much blogging. Which is kinda okay since her polishes are so frackin' awesome!!

I have been wanting some of her polishes for a long time but since she doesn't ship outside USA* I have had to have some help from a fellow polish fiend over there. The beauties I bought is part of the reason for my nobuy - I spent 3 months worth of my polish budget in July!!! Not just on Dandy Nails, mind you ;)

I had been drooling over  Like Disco Lemonade and Caught in the Crowd, but Wonderwall was the one that I thought I could not live without. And boy, was I right!!! As some of you may know I lurve blue nail polish and this is no exception. For undies I chose one of my untried nails inc. polishes, Instyle Bluebell.

And these two really match each other, just feast your eyes on the loveliness:

One coat of nails inc. InStyle bluebell, two coats of Dandy Nails Wonderwall.

A note on application: The brush is extremely tapered, I don't think I own a polish with that thick a brush, and that did take me some time to get used to. Furthermore this is a glitter bomb which means the consistency is on the thick side, and because of that it took me a little longer than usual to apply it. But by the second coat I had it nailed.

It also wears well. I have a job where my nails are constantly at work either opening film cans or writing on the computer. This mani lasted four days without any noticable tip wear.

*Since I got my beauties, Ninja Polish has started to carry Dandy Nails!!!! And they have international shipping!!! Now hurry on over and order some, they are sooooo worth it.
