#52weeks52polishes - week 1

One of my favourite Danish nail bloggers resurfaced last week - Rijah/Maria from Polishing the Nails. She took a break from nail blogging two years ago but I have kept up with her on instagram where she has mostly posted a mix of beauty related pics and pictures from her private life.

She spoke about wearing polish again and what she would like to do with her blogging this time around. And she suggested a small challenge so she could keep up with doing her nails: Posting once a week, showing a polish she hadn't shown her readers before. Which I thought was a wonderful idea and I decided to hop on that challenge since I have so many untried polishes I need to wear.

So after a poll on  insta Maria decided to call the challenge #52uger52lakker which translates to 52weeks52polishes - and here we are. I am already a week or two late which is just so typically me but I am trucking along anyway.

For my first polish I decided to go deep down and trawl through my old indies. One of my favourite brands - and one I was sad to see leave the indie nail polish world - is still Dandy Nails. Considering she left three years ago her polishes are still awesome and she had perfected her formula.

I am proud to say that considering the amount of nail polish I own this is still a one-of-a-kind in my collection: Bathed in Light. A light gray with a huge amount of maroon shimmer and a dash of holographic glitter to give it some oomph when the sun comes out - so gorgeous!!!

The polish seemed to be rather sheer on the first layer, but was almost opaque in the second. But I loved the maroon shimmer so much I had to add an extra layer and ended with 3 for this mani.

The stamping polish is Moyra Metallic Gold and the stamping plate is Moyou London Arabesque

Will you join us in this challenge? If you post on instagram remember to use #52uger52lakker and #52weeks52polishes.

See you around - have a great weekend :).

Fancy Friday #91: Text

Another Fancy Friday post from the draft vault - I didn't have any pictures of the polishes, so I have no idea what I used for this mani :D.

Thank you for keeping up with me, see you soon ;)

Fancy Friday #90: Blobbicure

Another old Fancy Friday post from the draft vault -  but it was just a blank page. So I took a look at my old pictures and found the ones I was going to use for this prompt :D.

I was never really good at blobbicures, but this one I think I did okay with.

And I still have a lot of vault posts to share with you guys :), so keep checking in to see more.

What's In-die Box Halloween Nail art

This post is all the way back from Halloween in 2014 where the Australian What's In-die Box was really getting a lot of traction - I started purchasing it with the Halloween box in 2013, but didn't buy every single box. This particular box was so well curated and I think this was one of their best!

So now that Halloween just passed by I thought I'd treat you with some of my Halloween nail art that wasn't challenge related.

Two weeks ago I received my eagerly awaited What's In-die Box for October that contained this year's Halloween related polishes. Usually when I buy subscription boxes I always end up with two or three that I don't care for but this time...Boy are they amazing.

Lilypad Skulloween, Peita's Polish Ghost Gutz, Glam Polish Paranormal, PrettyPots Bewitchery, Emily de Molly Night Terrors

I didn't have time this week to wear them all separately but instead I used them all for nail art - and I don't have to tell you how rarely I use newly acquired polishes the moment I receive them.

And this was how my left hand looked:

STOP PRESS: HOLO WEATHER IN DENMARK

We have had amazing weather here in Denmark for the past weeks. Last year was devoid of sun and I almost didn't wear holo nail polish.Luckily it looks like I will bewearing holo polish a LOT more this summer, haha.

Last week I decided to wear one of my most holo of holoest nail polishes. Emily de Molly Flatline. It is lilac holo goodness at its best and is almost a one coater. I did two coats just to be on the safe side. Formula was great, almost buttery smooth with no drag lines. I wore it for four days and didn't have any tipwear or chipping which is awesome.

It is so holo you can even see the holo flame in indoor lighting!!

LOOK AT THAT HOLO FLAME!!!!

Unfortunately it is an older polish and no longer available in Hayley's shop but you might get lucky and find a bottle at one of her international retailers. If you are a holo lover and you find it, you have to buy it!!! It is a must-have in any holo polish lover's collection.

Fancy Friday #92: Valentines Day

This is a very old post that somehow never got released from my draft section and as far as I can see I have another couple of posts I never got out flying - so here is #finallyoutofdraft post:

Trying to play catch-up and have a lot of posts to cover so they will be less wordy than what is normal for me.

As the title suggest this was my Valentine's mani. Since Valentine's Day is a relatively new phenomenon here in Denmark I don't "celebrate" it, but do manis for challenges because they usually take me a bit out of my comfort zone - and I've always appreciated when that happens :D.

I used Darling Diva's two Valentine's Day Duos that were released in 2014 and were gifted to me by Carrie Lynn, the owner, in a secret Galentine's Swap I did last year.

One duo is pink based with a crelly called Love of My Life and a glitter topper called That New Love Feel, the other duo is black based with a charcoal jelly holo called Hide and Go Eff Yourself and a glitter topper called Batshit Crazy Ex.

It has been ages...

Since my last post.

Almost 3 years - which wasn't my intention but I was going to move to another blog hosting service - and then life got in the way as it is wont to do.

In the past three years I have shared manis on Facebook and Instagram, but I always seem to take so many pictures of each mani that I really want to share and those two formats just don't fit.

So here I am, back where I started. I probably won't share several times a week but I never did back in the day so hopefully I will have something to share with you once a week...at least that is what I am aiming for.

Fancy Friday #94: Foil

I had some nail art foil lying around and decided to use it on top of my Color Club foil polishes...I am not quite sure about these:

It was my first attempt using nail foil - I am a bit meh about it now that I think about it...

Remember to check out the other Fancy Friday girls and see what they have come up with :).

Neglefolie - mit første forsøg. Havde nogle små ark liggende og brugte dem ovenpå to af mine Color Club foil lakker. Ved ikke helt om jeg synes om det...

Husk at checke de andre Fælles Fredag piger og deres foliemanier :)

Fancy Friday #93: Multi Colour Stamping

I am finally back after life threw me a curve ball. Blogging about nail polish and nail polish challenges has had to take third place for a while, but I have been polishing my nails so there are plenty of manis to share with you in the near future :D. And my return is also a small celebration worthy since this is actually my post no. 300!!

Multi Colour Stamping is the challenge for this week's Fancy Friday - and a stamping technique I've become quite thrilled with.

Unfortunately this particular mani is one of those that worked so much better in my mind's eye - I think I should have used a dark base colour instead.

Base colour is Elevation Polish Yeti Hugs Feels So Close:

I used Messy Mansion plate 32 which is an egyptian themed plate and has a design I have wanted to use since I purchased it. I used my Rica stamping polishes and started with randomly placing blobs of each colour on the image.

I did my middle nail first, but made the mistake of trying to blend the colours together while I was scraping. That certainly didn't have the desired effect and instead of a wonderful rainbow they turned into this murky sort of berry colour that wasn't even exciting.

So for the rest I tried to simply wipe my scraper over the image in one go. That had an equally problemtic effect - a lot of the design became almost invisible when stamped on white, as you can see it is really hard to see the intricate design.

Hopefully I will have time soon to recreate this with a darker base colour :).

Remember to check the rest of the Fancy Friday bloggers, there are some fantastic multi colour stamping manicures going on!!!

From the Vault: Girly Bits Gloss48 Trio swatches

I've been crappily sick today and ideas for my Fancy Friday manicure for this week are seemingly lost in my sickness - so while I am feeling awful I thought I might as well write up a post on a manicure that has been hiding in the vault for the better part of nine months :D

I was so very fortunate to get a hold of a very limited trio of polishes that the wonderful Pam Heil from Girly Bits Cosmetics did for a Gloss48 promo last February, #endlesslove, #islandtime and #blingernails.

#endlesslove on my thumb, index and pinkie. #islandtime on my middle and ring.

I was on a train ride to a family get-together wearing this mani in May last year.  The sun was shining through the windows and I was blinded by my own nails :D

#endlesslove and #islandtime topped with #blingernails equals gorgeous nails!!

Fancy Friday #87: One Colour - Three Shades

My colour choice is purple - and I have three purple KIKO polishes that I've been aching to try together :).

KIKO 315

KIKO 331

KIKO 291 leans more red in real life, you can see it in the pattern on my nail, but I had to choose between colour correct stamp or colour correct bottle since it was neigh impossible to get the bottle colour correct and not loose the colour of the stamp. So I chose the stamp instead of the bottle.

KIKO 291
I did multi colour stamping over white.

It looks a bit squished in some places but I really don't care, I think these colours go so well together that I can't seem to work up any regrets here :D

It's funny how you realise there are dust and other fun things on your fingers when you see your nails blown up like this but never when you take the actual pics ;).
