Untried Sunday: Nerd Lacquer Gorramit

One of my favourite tv-shows of all time is Joss Whedon's Firefly. I am desperately in fangirl love with Captain Tight Pants and forever girl crushing on Morena Baccarin. Some people don't get the fascination but I instantly loved the concept of Wild West in Space - and Christina Hendricks kicks some serious ass in this way before Mad Men ;)

I never got hands on Nerd Lacquers back in the day, but have been wanting the Dr. Who and Firefly Collections since I saw them back in 2011. Luckily I was able to swap my way to a few so I thought I'd show one of them to you today.

Gorram in the Firefly verse is a cuss word used as often as the F-word is here and therefore no wonder Amanda would choose to call one of her polishes that :D

 

I have this strange relationship with yellow nail polish, I want it bad but most yellows don't suit my skin tone. This looks okay, I think - maybe it's all the glittery goodness that make me overlook something ;)

I think I've said this numerous times - fiery orange glitter really flips all the right switches with me...maybe that is the reason I think it looks good on me.

 

And there is red square glitter in it - really, I don't do red, but this I LIKE!!

 By the way, I made a macro...LOOK AT ALL THAT GORGEOUS GLITTER!!!!

I still haven't gotten my hands on Shiny and I Aim to Misbehave but hopefully I will be able to catch them sometime in the future. And I still think it was a Gorram shame Fox cancelled this show...at least the fans got a movie three years later:

Untried Sunday: Elevation Polish The Arches at Sunset

As you already know I love Elevation Polish, everything with this indie brand is just perfection. For today's Untried Sunday I want to share a gorgeous duochrome called The Arches at Sunset.

The formula was terrific, it was so easy to applicate and dry time was fast. And I really don't think I have EVER seen this colour combination:

How do I even start to describe this colour? Light caramel brown with green-gold colour shift?

Untried Sunday: Jessika the Vampire Slayer

So finally my last of the Lacquistry Halloween 2012 polishes I own, and this really is a beauty. I'm not going to say much other than application was ace, dry time fast and it is layered over nails inc. westminster. I loooooove the complexity of this one. It has purple, black and orange hexes in different sizes, orange and black bar glitter, purple squares and loads more!!

And look at that: purple-teal colour shifting shimmer - an amazing surprise!!!

I am so happy I own this and the others from Lacquistry's Halloween collection, thanks to one of the amazing girls in my awesome birthday group!!!

Untried Sunday: Elevation Polish Toubkal

Today is gonna be a busy day. Have to bake cinnamon buns, take the twins to the movies and visit my mother's cousin - and blog as well!! So since I couldn't sleep I might as well spend my time on something useful :D

And I was going to show you Jessika the Vampire Slayer, but I just got an Elevation Polish membership and I felt like celebrating by showing you this here instead.

This post will be very short on words and very filled with pictures.

I love my Elevation polishes and the following is no exception - gorgeousness in a bottle!

Easy application and fast drying time. One of my all time favourite polishes.

 The golden glass fleck shimmer in this one just blew me away!!

Untried Sunday

So I missed Untried Sunday last week, sorry if you showed up to see what was the accent nail on my last Untried Sunday - so I'd better show you today :)

You're Invited is from Lacquistry's Halloween 2012 collection. Being the Glitter Bomb Queen on the indie polish scene, Jenna sure knows how to do 'em, this collection has been no exception. You're Invited is one layer on top, I had only to slightly manipulate the brush to get the coverage you see on these pics.

Formula was really good, not too thick and fast dry time as well.

Undies is Elevation Polish Tindur, a lovely very, very pale green with that lovely in-tone shimmer that I so love in the shimmers from Elevation. This was a dream to put on. I don't know what Lauren puts in her polishes but her pastels are so easy to work with. No significant dragging and perfect application in two layers.

As I've said a number of times before I really love that fiery ember like feeling you get from orange glitters - this is no exception.

Untried Sunday

It's been a while since I showed you my untrieds so this week I'm going to show you two in one :D

As you know Dandy Nails is one of my favourite indie brands - in my top three actually - and this polish really is the epitome of a marvellous glitter bomb.

What you may not know is that my favourite high end brand is Dior. I have yet to come across one that is not nail polish perfection - and this is no exception.

Behold Dior Gris Perle topped with Dandy Nails Like Disco Lemonade:

I love the tapered flat paddle brush in the new Dior bottles though the brush in this one is the broad normal one.  It is of really high quality and very easy to work with, and the polish itself is really opaque, I put on two thin layers for this mani.

Like Disco Lemonade is an awesome glitter bomb in a clear base and it has so much going on. Green and orange micro glitters, black squares, holographic hexes, all making this polish unique in my collection. I've got more complicated glitter bombs than this but the combination in it is outstanding.

As usual it was a polish that was easy to work with, I didn't have to use the dabble method to get good coverage from one layer - actually I don't have to dabble any of my Dandy Nails glitter bombs which is one of the reasons why this brand is in my indie top three.

I think this combo is awesome and lends something great to both polishes. What do you think?
