Fancy Friday #61: Texture

A texture challenge...we had it more than a year ago and it is a testament to the texture trend that it is still here - with nail polish brands still launching them both as entire collections and as one-shots. I have grown to like the Sand polishes a lot and have quite a few in my collection.

For this I have chosen two of my favourite texture brands: P2 and Sinful Colors. Instead of just painting my nails I decided to do some zig-zags with my soon-to-run-out-of Nail Vinyls *note to self: must buy more soon*

I used Elevation Polish Mount McKinley as base - a wonderful lilac creme that glides on like melted butter, self levels and is just plain lacquer awesomeness.

P2 Sand Style - 080 Lovely

As you can see there is quite the difference in the two textures. Where P2 make their sand style polishes crazy bling style, Sinful is doing some wonderful colour combinations with the different shimmers. I love both types :D.

Tekstur, hurra!!! Siden jeg prøvede min første teksturlak sidste år da vi havde det som udfordring, er jeg blevet fan af den her type lak. Der er et eller andet ved det rå, blingede look jeg er helt forelsket i. Her har jeg valgt to meget forskellige teksturlakker for at vise hvor stor spændvidde der især er i glitterteksturerne.

Golden Oldie Thursday #19: Texture

This challenge turned out to pose a bigger problem than I initially thought. And here is why: I got on the texture train a little late which means that I never got into caviar manis, feather or velvet. But texture polishes caught my fancy around this time last year - I got one from P2 gifted to me and liked it so much that I bought a couple of Kiko Sugar Mats in June or July. So the only "older" texture polishes I have are Kiko 643 Spring Green and Kiko 639 Golden Mandarin.

I decided to do a texture gradient with them just because. But I wanted to do a little bit more and then thought of my nailvinyls that one of my wonderful friends have donated to me. Which meant I had to decide on a base layer. And I thought that yellow would fit the bill, so I found Catrice Twist of Lemon, an LE polish from the Coolibri Collection.

For those of you that fight with tape manicures: Fret no more 'cause these babies make it so much easier!! They don't tear the layers underneath, and as you can see they lay straight down on your nail. They don't have any adhesive on them so they are easy to remove with no hassle at all!!

I actually thought that the mess I made would be annoying to remove but surprisingly enough clean up was easier than normally. I did get very glittery fingers, though. :D

I found the texture polishes were easier to get a good result with when doing gradients and I am definitely going to do them again!!

Fancy Friday #41: Match Your Eyes

Yay, a blue challenge Again, since I've got blue eyes - and late again, my life has been taking over but in a good way ;).

This time I decided to play with texture polishes...and a fan brush. I saw a sneak peak of a fan brush gradient my good friend Jacki from Adventures in Acetone did earlier in the week and I thought I'd try it with textures.

And it all ended up looking like this:

I used these beauties for this gradient:

Sinful Colors Blue Persuasion,  OPI Tiffany Case    Julie G Blueberry Fizz

I really like the fluidity of this in particular the transition from the dark to the lighter polish.

It is difficult to see the transition from Tiffany Case to Blueberry Fizz, but that is mostly due to my inexperience with the fan brush and how to align it on the nail to get all colours placed correctly. And my nails are really small which I also didn't take into account when I layed out the colours. Note to self: the stripes of polishes need to be much thinner than I think!!

I found the technique itself a good alternative to spongeing.

I will definitely try the fan brush for a regular gradient - perhaps for the challenge later this week...and if you want to try this yourself there is a great tutorial for this at the Neverland Nail Blog.

Hurra for endnu en udfordring hvor jeg kan lege med blå neglelak :D. Jeg har denne gang kastet mig ud i at lege med en viftepensel til en teksturgradient, overraskende ok resultat synes jeg. Det er dog lidt svært at se overgangen mellem de to lyse lakker, men det er mere fordi teknikken er helt ny for mig og mine negle ALT for små til de ret tykke streger jeg fik påført penslen :D.

 

Fancy Friday #7: Texture

Back again with this week's Fancy Friday manicure. Today the theme is texture - which I guess could cover all sorts: Caviar, velvet, liquid sand.

Luckily for me I received this P2 Sand Style nail polish a couple of months ago, it was gifted to me by the wonderful Nailant. I never got around trying it so I pulled it out of the Helmer for this challenge.

It is a navy blue polish with gray undertones called Confidential and it has a rainbow of small glitter particles - a real beauty. I've actually been on the fence about this trend but now that I've tried it I must say I'm a believer. I love the fact that it dries quickly and wears like iron.

This is deliberately out of focus to show you the colours that is in the micro glitters - makes it gorgeous to look at. And it really looks much more textured in these pics than in person.

And the sun makes those small particles glisten - deliberately unfocused to highlight the sparkle:

Fælles Fredag i denne uge er tekstur. Jeg har en enkelt Liquid Sand i min samling, fra det tyske mærke P2. Den hedder Confidential og er så smuk, synes jeg. Den har ihvertfald overbevist mig om at teksturlakker er fantastiske, for jeg  har været rigtig meget i tvivl om det var en stil for mig.
